ABOUT
Muse BLK envisions a vibrant cultural destination dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history, heritage, and contributions of African Americans throughout New Mexico and the greater Southwest. More than a museum, it will serve as a gathering place for education, cultural exchange, and community connection—bringing history to life through exhibitions, storytelling, and interactive learning.

Muse BLK: Center for History and Culture in the Southwest represents the next chapter of that legacy—an enduring symbol of empowerment, education, and cultural pride. It will serve as a focal point for engaging the African American community in its own sovereign self-definition and maintaining a vital connection with our past, present, and future legacies. This work ensures that New Mexico’s Black history remains visible, vital, and valuable for future generations.

Muse BLK will serve as a hub for exhibitions, performances, and community engagement that illuminate the strength, creativity, and resilience of the African diasporic experience in the region. The conceptual design reflects not only a physical space but a broader vision for education, opportunity, and connection. With spaces for educational programs, workforce development, employment opportunities, community events, and a dedicated event pavilion, Muse BLK will be a place where history inspires opportunity, culture brings people together, and future generations can see themselves reflected in the stories of the past.

A place to remember our history, celebrate our present, and shape our future.

Ultimately, the design of Muse BLK reflects a dual mission: to preserve African diasporic history while fostering innovation and connection across the Southwest. The building’s structure and philosophy embody the museum’s belief that sustainability extends beyond architecture — it is about cultivating enduring relationships between people, place, and purpose.
